7820 Dinmore Manor - The Blog

This blog will follow the heavy overhaul of 7820 through to its return to steam. The chassis is being overhauled at Tyseley Locomotive Works whilst the boiler is being overhauled at Ian Riley's workshops.
We are working hard every weekend to bring together the hundreds of small pieces that require refurbishing to get the loco back into working order. Follow us to keep up todate with the weekly progress and who knows if you like the look of what you see you may even be tempted to join us and help put 7820 back in action.

Saturday 25th January 2014 - Tyseley Locomotive Works

The superheater header has had all the old studs removed and new ones fitted. The superheater element ports are now being blanked off to allow the header to be pressure tested prior to re-installing in the smoke box.

With the new section of boiler banding in place around the safety valve, the opportunity is taken to fit the clack boxes to the safety valve casting and install the feed pipes from the injectors to the clacks.

The clack and feed pipe re-fitted on the firemans side. The cover for the feed pipe needs to be fitted but this cannot be done until the safety valve bonnet has been fitted as all new holes need to be drilled and tapped for the bonnet and covers.

Work on the cab continues as the cab extension receives a coat of paint, remaining back head cladding is fitted and the regulator rod is installed.

The smoke box door liner in place on the door and marked up with the sizes of spacers required to complete the fitting.

A birds eye view as our Manor gradually comes together.
